Process Paper
I chose my topic for the 2014 History Day Project by making a list of possible ideas, such as the Holocaust, Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, and Susan B. Anthony. I started to research my topics, and decided to do Susan B. Anthony: Women's Rights because I have always been interested in her work. For my research, I went online, read books, looked at newspaper articles, and watched video clips to learn more about Susan B. Anthony and women's voting rights. The more I saw and learned, the more my topic became clear to me. Before I started researching, I was really confused about the whole process of voting, but it became clearer to me and now I understand.
I organized my information by gathering all my sources, writing down unknown words on notecards, and highlighting everything I would need for future reference. I also took the information that wasn't as important and wrote it down in a notebook. Then, I categorized the information on notebook paper and made website pages that way. I wrote a rough draft of my whole website on separate pieces of paper. Next, I made corrections and made a final draft. Finally, I inserted my information on the website. I added photos relating to the topic of each page. I chose to do a website because it seemed really easy and fun to do, and I thought it was really cool that you could design it however you wanted it to be.
My project relates to the theme of Rights and Responsibilities in History because women should have had the right to vote. Prior to women's right to vote, the men would just basically control their lives, and that's when Susan B. Anthony came along. The men feared they would lose power over the women if they got the right to vote. Because of Susan B. Anthony, women are now able to vote, and I feel that this is why women's right to vote is a right and responsibility in history.
